Batley Bulldogs scrum-half Archie Bruce passed away as a result of asphyxiation, a post-mortem evaluation has actually found.

Bruce, 20, was found dead in his hotel room on Sunday early morning, after making his launching for the Champion side at Toulouse on Saturday night.

French authorities performed a post-mortem on Monday and more tests are still being examined.

The Rugby Football League Benevolent Fund has produced a Just Giving page in Bruce’s name.

Batley director John Miller informed BBC Radio Leeds Bruce was “really giddy and happy with himself after the video game and extremely happy”.

The club stated Bruce was a “clever, respectful, amusing and extremely likeable boy, his death is an absolute disaster”.

Batley are 10 th in the 14- group Champion, the division below Super League.
