SYDNEY (AP)– The 3rd Sydney-based club in Australia’s A-League will be referred to as MacArthur FC and will be directed in its very first season by current women’s national group coach Ante Milicic.
The club’s logo design, featuring a bull, the black, white and ochre colors and name were unveiled in an event at Campbelltown in Sydney’s southwest on Wednesday.
MacArthur will be the 12 th team in a broadened top-flight competitors from the 2020-21 season after A-League organizers voted in favor of expansion last December.
Sydney FC was a structure club in the revamped nationwide competition and won the very first A-League premiership title in2006 Western Sydney Wanderers joined the competitors in 2012.
A third club from Melbourne, Western United, is set to sign up with the competitors next season, signing up with four-time champ Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City in the nationwide top flight.
Milicic will coach the Matildas at the Women’s World Cup in France next month and at the Olympics in Tokyo next year prior to signing up with MacArthur as the club’s foundation head coach.
” The timing was best for me,” stated Milicic, who bet Australia and was previously an assistant coach with the males’s national team.
