CC Sabathia ended up being the 17 th pitcher in Big league history to sign up with the 3,000 strikeout club.

The New york city Yankees left-hander started out John Ryan Murphy in the 2nd inning Tuesday night, his third strikeout of the game.

Sabathia, 38, is simply the third lefty to reach 3,000 strikeouts, signing up with Randy Johnson and Steve Carlton.

In November, Sabathia revealed that this would be his last season. Initially a first-round draft choice by Cleveland in 1998, he pitched the Indians from 2001-08 and then the Brewers in2008 He signed a free agent with the Yankees on Dec. 18, 2008.
