( New York City)– Cuba Gooding Jr. turned himself in and was arrested Thursday on charges he searched a female in an encounter at a New york city City night spot that appears to have been caught on video.
The 51- year-old Oscar-winning star of “Jerry Maguire” denies the claims and pleaded innocent to forcible touching and sexual assault charges at a night court arraignment.
He was launched on his own recognizance after about six hours in cops custody.
Gooding did not discuss his case as he left court, instead providing well wants to David Ortiz, the Boston Red Sox star hospitalized after he was shot Sunday in the Dominican Republic.

” Recover, Big Papi,” Gooding stated while passing a phalanx of electronic cameras and reporters in the court house lobby.

A 29- year-old female told authorities that Gooding place his hand on her breast and squeezed it without her approval Sunday night at Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge. The lady stated she thought Gooding was intoxicated.
Video acquired by TMZ that the website states is from inside the bar on the night in question appears to show Gooding putting his hand on or near a female’s leg and breast as they sit on a sofa with another female between them.
Gooding is then seen pulling the female’s hand to his lips, as if to kiss it, and leaning toward her prior to another guy steps up and talks with them.
The video might be essential evidence for prosecutors, but Gooding’s lawyer stated the video footage revealed “not the tiniest scintilla of unsuitable conduct” and will exonerate him.
” Mr. Gooding has not acted wrongly in any shape or form,” lawyer Mark Heller stated.
” Nothing in the video might even be considered ambiguous, and I frankly am surprised and horrified that this case is being prosecuted,” he included.
Gooding, in a dark blue match, smiled and waved as he strolled into a police headquarters Thursday afternoon to meet special victims detectives. Inside, they took his fingerprints and a mug shot before leading him out in handcuffs.
Later on, Gooding rested on a wood bench in the front row of an austere courtroom, his hands cuffed behind his back and his face turned severe as he waited on his case to be called. As an investigator uncuffed him, he uncurled his hands and shook them out.
A conviction could put Gooding behind bars for as much as a year. He is due back in court June 26.
Heller said he questioned the accuser would appear for court hearings and suggested that district attorneys should charge her with perjury if she testified in court and her claims were contradicted by video.
The NYPD has not identified the accuser.
Heller said that after he and his personnel evaluated the two-hour security video, he was reluctant to let Gooding give up and believed cops and prosecutors would drop the case.
The Manhattan district attorney’s workplace did not comment.
” I am extremely confident that he will be absolutely exonerated,” Heller stated.
Heller also contested allegations in media reports from a second woman stated to have actually stepped forward in current days and told cops that Gooding got her butts at a New york city City dining establishment in 2008.
Gooding was not charged on that allegation.
” There is no pattern of conduct,” Heller said in an interview Thursday. “It is not unusual for people to come out of the woodwork when these things occur.”
Gooding was associated with another bar-related episode in New Orleans in2012 A bartender said that the actor was agitated by customers who desired photos with him and that he pushed her when she asked him to leave.
An arrest warrant was released, but the bartender declined to push charges.
When it comes to Sunday night, Gooding told TMZ that he was at Magic Hour partying with friends however didn’t touch anyone. He said there’s a video that shows “what truly occurred.”
” I trust the system and will let the procedure speak for itself,” Gooding said in the TMZ interview.
Videos posted on social media show Gooding at the Manhattan bar Sunday night singing the Journey struck “Faithfully” and posing for photos with fans.
The bar, on the roofing of the Moxy Hotel south of Times Square, includes tiny golf and sweeping views of the Empire State Building and other Big Apple landmarks.
Gooding, a Bronx local, rose to fame after starring in “Boyz N the Hood” in 1991.
